Once again this year, it was very exciting to discover a range of original variations sent by our Partner School students eager to discover the adventure of choreography!

A Jury Panel gathered in Lausanne last week to watch and mark the 32 videos submitted by the Young Creation Award 2022 candidates and selected 5 Finalists. These 5 young promising choreographers will have the chance to come to Montreux and present their choreographies during the Prix de Lausanne 2022 which will be marked by the competition’s Jury. At the end of the Finals on Saturday, February 5th, 2022, the Jury will announce the 2 winning choreographies. Those variations will become part of the Prix de Lausanne contemporary repertoire, from which candidates of the 2023 edition will be able to choose and perform to.

In total, 32 young choreographers (15 girls and 17 boys) from 14 different Partner Schools have submitted a contemporary variation.

I am so inspired by this second Young Creation Award edition! Not only do we have 10 talented young choreographers and dancers joining us in Montreux in February 2022 but we will also have the presence of the remarkable 2 winners from 2021, Maya Smallwood and Samuel Winkler. I am looking forward to seeing their future careers being enhanced by the incredible experience that is the Prix de Lausanne!

This programme, sponsored by Heinz Spoerli, aims to encourage young aspiring choreographers, thanks to a positive and constructive competitive atmosphere.
