Open House and VIP cocktail of our Summer Intensive – European and International Preselection, at Villars-sur-Ollon, a charming Swiss village nestled in the Vaud Alps.
Open House of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne.
Our members were welcomed at the studios of the Bejart Ballet Lausanne, a partner company of the Prix de Lausanne, to watch the rehearsals of their newest creations Hamlet and Rhapsody in Blue, with a presentation of each work by the choreographers. The rehearsal was followed by a cocktail reception with the company’s artists.
Prix de Lausanne Cercle of Friends members enjoyed an exclusive trip to London, UK, visiting our esteemed partners, the Royal Ballet and the Royal Ballet School.
The weekend began with a personalized tour of the Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden, followed by a private studio watching, where members witnessed many Prix de Lausanne laureates in training, experiencing firsthand their dedication and progress during their scholarship year.
The trip continued with a VIP Day at the Royal Opera House, starting with an insider’s tour of its backstage areas, including the fascinating costumes department. Members had the privilege of meeting principal dancers Matthew Ball and Mayara Magri, both former Prize Winners. The evening was the occasion of a delightful dinner at the Piazza Restaurant, with a personal introduction by Kevin O’Hare, CBE, Director of the Royal Ballet.
Concluding the weekend was a mesmerizing performance of Swan Lake, featuring several Prix de Lausanne laureates in leading roles, on the grand stage of the Royal Opera House.
Some of our Friends extended their stay, enjoying additional performances such as Lucia Di Lammermoor and a piano concert at the Paul Hamlyn Hall.
Members were invited to the dress rehearsal of Nivagation by the partner company of the Prix de Lausanne, Béjart Ballet Lausanne, at the Beaulieu Theatre.
The Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members travelled to Munich (Germany) during the Ballet Festival Week 2023 to visit two Prix de Lausanne’s partners:
The Bayerisches Staatsballett and the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich
On Saturday morning, the Friends had the immense privilege to be welcomed by the company director Mr. Laurent Hilaire, attend company class and rehearsals at the Bayerische Staatsoper, followed by a VIP tour of the stage and the ballet facilities.
In the evening they attended the performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by John Neumeier, where six Prix de Lausanne laureates performed in the main roles! After the show, they had the chance to go backstage and meet the artists.
The following day, they attended the Junior Ballet matinee performance of the Heinz Bosl Foundation, where the young dancers from the Junior ensemble and the Ballet Akademie performed pieces by A. Bournonville, Hans Van Manen, Jiri Kilian and David Russo.
Some of our Friends prolonged the weekend with performances of “Schmetterling” (Papillon) on Friday and Sunday evening, which featured two works by the choreographer duo Sol León and Paul Lightfoot.
Dress rehearsal de Wien, Wien nur du Allein from Béjart Ballet Lausanne
Members of the Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends had the immense privilege to attend a Stage and Orchestra rehearsals of Swan Lake by the Royal Ballet in London. Cesar Corrales, Prix de Lausanne 2013 Prize Winner, danced the role of Prince Siegfried.
The following day, the Friends were invited by the Royal Ballet School and were able to attend classes and rehearsals with the students of different levels.
The Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have been invited to an exclusive rehearsal of the Magic Flute (Mozart) by the Béjart Ballet Lausanne.
The Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have been invited for the second time to a guided tour of the exhibition “La peinture anglaise de Turner à Whistler” at the Fondation de l’Hermitage, in Lausanne.
As part of the 2nd Festival International Jeunes Ballets at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices, in Geneva, the Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have enjoyed a workshop given by Tamara Bacci for the dancers of the National Youth Ballet of Germany, Verve and Area Jeune Ballet and the rehearsals on stage of the Ballet Junior of Geneva.
The Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members travelled to Hamburg (Germany) to visit two Prix de Lausanne’s partners :
In the morning, the group met Mrs Indrani Delmaine – Managing Coordinator of the school – for a tour in the school and to attend a ballet class for the girls (last year students) given by the Director of the school, Gigi Hyatt. Then they also attended a ballet class for boys (last year students and Bundesjugendballett – National Youth Ballet dancers) given by the Bundesjugendballett – National Youth Ballet’s Director, Kevin Haigen.
In the afternoon, the Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have been invited to attend the general rehearsal of Beethoven Project (the last creation by John Neumeier), at the Staatsoper Hamburg.
The Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have been invited to a guided tour of the exhibition Pastels at the Fondation de l’Hermitage, in Lausanne.
The Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have been invited to the first “Journée Portes Ouvertes” of the Ecole-Atelier Rudra-Béjart, in Lausanne, and have enjoyed the rehearsals of their next show.
The Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have been invited to the “Journée Portes Ouvertes” of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne and enjoyed the rehearsals of the Magic Flute (Mozart).
As part of the 1st Festival International Jeunes Ballets at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices, in Geneva, the Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members have enjoyed the rehearsals of the Ballettschule Theater Basel and the Cannes Jeune Ballet, a workshop given by Jean-Philippe Dury and a master class given by Amanda Bennett, Director of the Ballettschule Theater Basel.

In the morning the group met Jan Broeckx (Director of Ballett-Akademie) for a tour of his school and to attend a morning ballet class for men (Bachelor grade 3 – aged 17 to 18), given by their Director himself!
In the afternoon, the Prix de Lausanne Circle of Friends members went to visit the Staatsoper to attend a rehearsal of the “corps de ballet”, men only, for the upcoming Spartacus production! The rehearsals was directed by Ruslan Prolin, former Bolshoi Ballet soloist.
