The Prix de Lausanne is pleased to open the Finals of its Summer Intensive – International Preselection to the public, on 11 July 2026!

Save the date!

From 6 to 11 July 2026, our Summer Intensive will serve as the official International Preselection for the Prix de Lausanne 2027. The week-long workshop and preselection will take place at Béjart Ballet Lausanne studios, kindly provided by the company, and on the stage of the Beaulieu Theatre.

To mark the occasion, the Prix de Lausanne is thrilled to welcome the public to an open house on Saturday, 11 July, for the final stage of the Preselection, held at the Beaulieu Theatre.

Free admission (Ages 7 and up).

The preselection unfolds over the course of a full day, during which the jury closely observes the 57 participants through several classes and run-throughs. At the end of this process, up to four of them will be preselected to take part in the next edition of the Prix de Lausanne in 2027.

The jury is composed of the Summer Intensive instructors Cynthia Harvey, Clairemarie Osta, Didy Veldman and Nicolas Le Riche, alongside Laura Smeak and Kathryn Bradney, Artistic and Executive Director of the Prix de Lausanne.

  • Classical classes: A series of technical exercises at the barre and in the centre, taught by Cynthia Harvey and Nicolas Le Riche.

  • Contemporary classes: Led by Didy Veldman, these classes focus on movement quality, interpretation, and creativity.

  • Classical variations run-through: Participants perform their classical variation one after another, without interruption or feedback, as they would in a stage presentation.

  • Contemporary variations run-through: As with the classical run-through, this session is dedicated to contemporary variations. Participants will perform the two winning pieces from the Young Creation Award 2026, coached by the choreographers themselves.

    • Girls and Boys A will work on “Ritual” by Max Cowan.

    • Girls and Boys B will work on “Tidal” by Kyra Wentzlaff.

Each classical and contemporary dance class is accompanied by live music, performed by professional pianists.

Reminder: As in the main competition, the participants are divided into four groups based on age and sex: Girls A, Girls B, Boys A, and Boys B. Category A includes the younger dancers (Juniors), while Category B includes the older ones (Seniors). Classical classes are organized by both sex and age category, whereas contemporary classes are mixed by sex and divided only by age category.
