From 7 to 12 July 2025, our Summer Intensive will serve as the official European and International Preselection for the Prix de Lausanne 2026. The week-long workshop and preselection will take place at Béjart Ballet Lausanne studios, kindly provided by the company, and, for the very first time, on the stage of the Beaulieu Theatre.
To mark the occasion, the Prix de Lausanne is thrilled to welcome the Lausanne public to an open house on Saturday, 12 July, for the final stage of the Preselection, held at the Beaulieu Theatre.
Free admission, from age 7.
Throughout the day, the 61 participants will take to the stage to be observed and evaluated. At the end of this process, up to four of them will be preselected to take part in the next edition of the Prix de Lausanne in February 2026. The jury is composed of the Summer Intensive teachers and coaches Cynthia Harvey, Clairemarie Osta, Didy Veldman and Nicolas Le Riche, alongside Kathryn Bradney, Artistic and Executive Director of the Prix de Lausanne.
The preselection unfolds over a full day, during which the jury closely observes several classes and run-throughs. As a reminder, the categories are based on age: Category A includes the younger dancers (Juniors), while Category B includes the older ones (Seniors).
Classical classes: A series of technical exercises at the barre and in the centre, taught by Cynthia Harvey and Nicolas Le Riche.
Contemporary classes: Led by Didy Veldman, these classes focus on movement quality, interpretation, and creativity.
Classical variation run-through: Participants perform their classical variation one after another, without interruption or feedback, as they would in a stage presentation.
Contemporary variation run-throughs: As with the classical run-through, this session is dedicated to contemporary variations. Participants will rehearse the two winning pieces from the Young Creation Award 2025, coached by the choreographers themselves.
Dancers in Category A (Junior) will work on “Extinction” by Alexander Mockrish.
Dancers in Category B (Senior) will work on “20 Miles From Shore” by Henry Lichtmacher.
Each classical and contemporary dance class is accompanied by live music, performed by professional pianists.
