Testimony from alumna Rina Kanehara

Here is an interview of Rina Kanehara, laureate of Prix de Lausanne 2015. She just finished her first year at the English National Ballet!

• What are your plans once the present program in which you are enrolled draws to a close? 

I am very happy to announce that the Director of English National Ballet, Tamara Rojo, promoted me to the 8th year Artist which is the top of the corps de ballet member for next season. And of course I am very pleased to continue dancing with English National Ballet.

• What advice would you give to future Prix de Lausanne winners to assist them in making their year at their particular company of choice as beneficial as possible?

I am sure that all the participants search their favorite companies a lot before they participate to the Prix de Lausanne, and I think it is really important to know which kind of work they do in the company and what kind of repertoire they do. I can advice them to do not choose the company just because of the name or the city, the most important thing is what they do in the company.

• Anything else you would like to share with the Prix de Lausanne?

I am very very happy that I participated in the competition last year, because the Prix de Lausanne made my future and my dancer life!
