The journey in Amsterdam started with a private visit to the Dutch National Ballet Academy led by its Artistic Director, Dario Elia, who delivered an emotive speech regarding the Prix de Lausanne. It was also an opportunity to meet 12 former participants of the Prix de Lausanne, who are now students at the academy.
This was followed by dinner at the Omber Tivoli, which offers wonderful canal views, before the evening continued at the Nationale Opera & Ballet for the opening night of Die Passagierin. This two-act production by Mieczyslaw Weinberg offered our Circle of Friends an exceptional experience. They had the opportunity to attend this masterpiece in a prestigious setting, bringing the day to a spectacular close.
The following day, their journey continued at the Dutch National Ballet for a VIP visit and a company class. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with Prize Winner, David Makhateli (1992) and Finalist Nancy Euverink (1986), under the direction of Ted Brandsen of the Dutch National Ballet. In the afternoon, the Circle of Friends attended a new production of La Bayadère, by Marius Petipa and Rachel Beaujean. The performance highlighted the remarkable talent of many Prize Winners and alumni of the Prix de Lausanne, all shining brilliantly on stage.
An unforgettable journey!
More than just a cultural visit, it was a vibrant celebration of dance and a bridge between generations. Witnessing our alumni and Prize Winner grace the stage in La Bayadère was the highlight, perfectly embodying the reach of the Prix de Lausanne.
The Circle of Friends returns home invigorated by these experiences, united in our commitment to championing the next generation of talent as they prepare to light up the world stage.
