Each year, the Prix de Lausanne invites a ‘carte blanche’ photographer to document the competition in his or her own way. This is an opportunity to discover the unique atmospheres of the Prix de Lausanne from different points of view and sensibilities.

For its 2024 edition, the Prix de Lausanne entrusted photographer Quentin Décaillet with a “carte blanche” to document the competition in his own way. The Clair-obscur (Chiaroscuro) exhibition captures the contrasting moments experienced by young dancers during their intense week at the Prix de Lausanne. Presented as diptychs, the photographs create an aesthetic interplay of light and perspective, where every movement interacts with the architecture of Beaulieu. From the dark wings to the spotlight on stage, from effort to letting go, from moments of control to vulnerability, Quentin Décaillet delicately reveals those instances where the personal outweighs the competitive.

Quentin Décaillet discovered his passion for portrait photography in 2011, before specialising in product and beauty photography. A self-taught artist, he excels in crafting elegant and striking visuals that highlight craftsmanship and luxury. To know more about the his work, visit: quentindecaillet.com
