Vincenzo Capezzuto

After graduating from the San Carlo Opera House Ballet School in Naples, directed by Anna Razzi, with the highest marks, he joined the company of the same theater, playing soloistic roles in the productions: Te voglie bene assaje with choreography by L. Cannito and music by Roberto de Simone, La Strada by M. Pistoni, Rhapsody by F. Ashton, and Persephone by Eric Vu An with Isabella Rossellini and Gerard Depardieu.

In the 1998/99 season, he was invited by Derek Deane to join the English National Ballet in the productions of Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall and on tour in Australia, China, and New Zealand, and by the Teatro alla Scala in Milan for Rudolf Nureyev’s Cinderella production.

In 2000, he was invited to join the Teatro San Carlo Opera House as a stable soloist dancer, performing in several productions, including Tarantella by G. Balanchine, Sleeping Beauty by N. Glushak, Napoli by A. Bournonville, A Streetcar Named Desire by M. Wainrot, The Nutcracker by L. Cannito, and Coppelia by R. Petit. In 2001, Julio Bocca invited him to his company, The Ballet Argentino, as a principal dancer. He performed in ballets such as Tchaikovsky pas de deux by G. Balanchine, staged by Susanne Farrell; Coppelia by E. Martinez; Donizetti Variations by G. Balanchine; Le Corsair by M. Petipa; Desde Lejos by M. Wainrot; BoccaTango by A. M. Stekelman; The River by A. Ailey; and Carmen by A. Alonso, among others.

In 2004, he returned to the San Carlo Opera House, invited by Elisabetta Terabust, dancing as principal dancer in ballets such as Giselle, Ma Pavlova, The Solitude of the Wind, Barmoon-the Cage, and Mediterranea.

In 2005, Mauro Bigonzetti invited him as a soloist to the Aterballetto Ballet Company, with which he would collaborate for seven years, interpreting ballets and creations by M. Bigonzetti, W. Forsythe, J. Kylian, E. Scigliano, and O. Naharin. He toured in Australia, New Zealand, China, the United States, Germany, Austria, Greece, Finland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Serbia, and other countries.

During his years with Aterballetto, Vincenzo was invited as a guest dancer by the MMCompany, directed by Michele Merola. With the company, he performed in ballets created for him, including I want to be free (dedicated to Rudolf Nureyev), Kasina 35, If he ever came back, Half of the Shadow, and Maps of lost lovers.

During his career as a dancer, he was invited to participate in the International Dance Galas by Vittoria Ottolenghi in the Spoleto Marathon and the Todi Festival, by Alessandra Ferri in the Gala Ballet Stars in the World, and by Maximiliano Guerra in the Gala Nureyev at the Red Cross Gala of Udine.

He received many international awards, such as the Leonide Massine-Positano, the Roscigno Danza as best dancer of the year 2005, the Giuliana Penzi prize for his career, and the TOYP award for the spreading of art in the world.

As assistant to Mauro Bigonzetti, he staged his choreographies and worked with Staatstheater Nürnberg, Lithuanian Ballet Company, ZfinMalta National Company, Staatstheater Cottbus, Tirana Opera House, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP), Theater Hagen, Schwerin Ballet, Valencia Dancing Forward Company, and ‘La Cita de la Danza’ in Benicàssim, Spain.

He was invited as a judge at the YAGP together with Joaquín de Luz, Nacho Duato, and Élisabeth Platel.
