Lidia Segni was born in the province of Cordoba, Argentina. In 1970 she joined the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colon, where she danced with Rudolf Nureyev and Alexander Godunov. In 1989 she was appointed Director of Julio Bocca’s Ballet Argentino. In 1995 the company debuted at the City Center in New York and the following year they performed in several cities in the United States. In 1996, in a tour called “La Vuelta al Mundo”, they toured five continents, performing at the Kirov Theatre and the Hermitage Palace Theatre in St. Petersburg.

She accompanies Julio Bocca during the tours to Turkey and Greece as Master of the American Ballet Theater. In 1997 she trained Herman Cornejo who won the Gold Medal at the International Ballet Competition in Moscow. She directed the Ballet Argentino de La Plata and, later, the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colón for six years. She was Guest Mistress of the Contemporary Ballet of the Teatro General San Martín.

Segni was also a member of the jury of the Benois de la Danse competition at the Bolshoi Theatre and the Prix de Lausanne. Nowadays she continues with her teaching work and is invited as a choreographer in her country and abroad.
