Presenting our 2014 jury: Christopher Powney

Christopher Powney, 2014 jury member

Christopher Powney danced with leading companies including The English National Ballet and Rambert Dance Company. From 1996-1998 he was the Assistant Artistic Director of Ballet Central before returning to dance with Rambert Dance Company. In 2000 he went on to join the teaching staff at the Royal Ballet Upper School and in 2006 moved to the Netherlands and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague as their graduate teacher. Since 2010, he has been the Artistic Director of the Dutch National Ballet Academy, Amsterdam.

Christopher was recently appointed Artistic Director Designate to the Royal Ballet School, taking up his position from April 2014.

Christopher Powney a dansé au sein d’éminentes compagnies comme l’English National Ballet et la Rambert Dance Company. De 1996 à 1998, il a été le directeur artistique assistant du Ballet Central, avant de retourner danser avec la Rambert Dance Company. En 2000, il intègre le corps enseignant de la Royal Ballet Upper School. En 2006, il devient professeur au département Danse du Conservatoire Royal à La Haye. Depuis 2010 Christopher Powney est directeur artistique de la National Ballet Academy, Amsterdam.

Il vient d’être nommé directeur artistique de la Royal Ballet School et prendra ses fonctions en avril 2014.
