Alexander Álvarez Silvestre was born in Hiqüey (Dominican Republic) in 2003, but grew up in San Juan (Puerto Rico). He started dancing at the age of 16 at the Centro Danza in San Juan. He then moved to Texas (United States) where he studied for a year at the Feijóo Ballet School. During this same year, he participated in the Youth America Grand Prix. There, he received a scholarship to complete his ballet training at the Dutch National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, where he graduated in 2023. As his first year as a professional dancer he joined the Junior Company of the Dutch National Ballet where he is discovering what goals he wants to achieve in the future as a dancer, as well as developing in different areas of the art, like choreography. In 2024, he was a finalist in the Young Creation Award, the choreographic competition organized by the Prix de Lausanne, for his solo choreography Hollow. That same year, he returned to the Prix de Lausanne Summer Intensive to teach his finalist choreography.
